It's important to design a site that
is ad-friendly from the beginning to
avoid having to go back and make
time-consuming changes. For
that reason, you will want to
include these tips for building an
ad-friendly website or blog.
1. Do not use free hosting-
they have ads and you will lose a
large percentage of "clicks" to ads
that pay you nothing. Plus, their
frequent pop-up or blinking ads are
a surefire way to lose visitors,
fast.
2. Design your site with your
ad placement in mind.
Implement them into the structure of
the site- the less obtrusive, the
better.
3. Color coordinate your ads
from the beginning. Use
complimentary colors, and make sure
your ads can be seen by using
complimentary font schemes
throughout your site design.
4. Remember to test your site
in multiple browsers, since not all
features view the same in every
browser. Firefox, Explorer,
and Netscape should all be included.

Why test your site with multiple
browsers?
Every beginner finds this one out the hard
way, if they aren't lucky enough to be
warned. Not every webpage views the
same in different browsers, and believe me,
you will want to avoid having to go back and
change minor details in each and every page
you spent hours creating.
What to watch for in different browsers:
Frames. Watch text and ads to be certain
they are where you want.
Text: Keep in mind that browsers give
the option for individuals to use their
preferred font when viewing websites.
Images- particularly flash content- do not
always appear friendly to different
browsers. If you plan to use flash on
your site, be sure to have a link to the
plug-in, just in case. Or, suggest
Firefox (with a Firefox referral button
nearby) which offers nearly every plug-in
already installed.
